Shell fortalece la posición de Vaca Muerta mediante la participación en Bandurria Sur

Royal Dutch Shell plc, mediante su subsidiaria Shell Argentina S.A. (“Shell”), anunció hoy que ha finalizado la adquisición de SPM Argentina S.A. (“Schlumberger”) con su socio Equinor. Schlumberger tenía una participación del 49% en la explotación en el bloque Bandurria Sur, un desarrollo no convencional en la cuenca de Vaca Muerta. YPF mantendrá la participación restante del 51% en la explotación y continuará como operador.
El bloque de Bandurria Sur, aproximadamente 56.000 acres brutos de petróleo de esquisto, se encuentra en la última etapa del piloto de desarrollo y es adyacente al bloque Bajada de Añelo operado por Shell. El precio de la participación del 24,5% de Shell es de USD 177.5 millones. La inversión fortalece aún más la posición de Shell en Vaca Muerta y es acorde con la estrategia de Upstream de la Compañía, que busca entregar niveles de producción en crecimiento de manera competitiva.
Shell y Equinor han llegado a un acuerdo preliminar con YPF para adquirir juntos un 11% adicional de YPF. La finalización de este acuerdo adicional está sujeta a ciertas condiciones después de lo cual Shell y Equinor tendrán cada uno un 30% de participación en Bandurria Sur, mientras que YPF mantendrá el 40% de participación y continuará como operador.
El presidente de Shell Argentina, Sean Rooney, comentó: “La asociación con Equinor en el bloque Bandurria Sur brinda a Shell oportunidades prometedoras de crecimiento en la ventana de líquidos no convencionales. Shell en Argentina
El Grupo Shell ha operado en Argentina de forma continua desde 1914, y comenzó la exploración de hidrocarburos y las actividades de producción en 1921. En el negocio del Upstream, participamos desde 1998 en el Joint Venture Acambuco, un área de gas natural y condensado en la provincia de Salta operada por Pan Amercian Energy LLC. Nuestra historia más reciente en Upstream comenzó en 2012, cuando lanzamos la exploración y la subsiguiente explotación de depósitos de petróleo y gas no convencionales en la cuenca de Neuquén. Hoy en día, Shell opera los bloques de Sierras Blancas, Cruz de Lorena, Coiron Amargo Sur Oeste y Bajada de Añelo. En abril de 2014, también adquirimos un porcentaje de dos bloques operados por Total Austral S.A.: La Escalonada y Rincón La Ceniza. Vaca Muerta desarrolla una función importante en el portafolio de oportunidades futuras para Shell.
